MAFUBO FIGHTS AGAINST WOMEN’S EXTREME POVERTY AND INSECURITY. MAFUBO WORKS TO GIVE WOMEN ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE, AND TO ENSURE GIRLS FROM DISADVANTAGED BACKGROUNDS GET AN EDUCATION.
VISION : A WORLD WHERE ALL WOMEN ARE SAFE, INTEGRATED IN SOCIETY AND EMPOWERED.
MISSION : MAFUBO FIGHTS AGAINST EXTREME POVERTY, INSECURITY AND THE VARIOUS FORMS OF VIOLENCE INFLICTED ON AFRICAN WOMEN.
Created by Monique Mujawamariya in 2009 Mafubo is a federation of 36 country association (see Network) sharing the following objectives:
empower African women through financial independence and access to decent housing,
help protect women against violence in urban areas (rape, domestic violence, physical abuse, etc,)
facilitate access to health care for the prevention and cure of reproductive system diseases (cancer, post-birth trauma, etc.),
promote equal opportunities in education for underprivileged girls, ensuring they live with the basic conditions for success.
Mafubo is apolitical and non-denominational. Projects stem from the needs and priorities identified by local teams.and are implemented with local people.
Mafubo is organized so that the impact of its work within a community can be quickly and easily assessed and evaluated. Its effect on communities must be fast and visible.
MAFUBO MEANS WOMEN SOLIDARITY
Mafubo is a word from the Rwandan language meaning "A woman who has a lot of compassion for other women." By choosing this name for their network, members show their belief that society can improve through feminine solidarity.
